Which ashtray do I need for my establishment?

When it comes to cleaning up after smokers, it is something that establishments that serve drinks and alcohol and have any manner of outside space, usually have to put up with; leaving a member of staff with a dustpan and brush to clean up discarded cigarette butts at the end of the evening. We all remember being stuck with the clean up jobs, very few people like them!

Not to worry, we have a solution that will not only improve the morale of your staff but potentially your customers as well. It is by no means groundbreaking, we like to simply refer to it as an ash tray! As you may have seen in our ashbin article in 2016, many establishments haven’t replaced their wall mounted ashbins or loose ashtrays since the smoking ban came into effect across the UK.

An ashbin is a great way of providing a central point or a few central points for smokers to congregate around and put their stubs out in. However, aesthetically they aren’t right for every establishment and for some places the ashtray approach could be more suitable. For example, if you are a pub with a number of benches or picnic tables in a garden then the ashtray approach would probably be more suitable – ensuring that every table or every other table has a receptacle for disposing of ugly and smelly cigarette butts.

We love a dash of variety here at Beaumont TM, we understand that one ashtray will not fit all – as a result we have put together a varying selection of ashtrays for you to choose from:

Behind Door Number 1:

We have the wondrous 7 inch black Melamine ashtray, this beauty is sold in multiples of 10 and each carton contains 12 ashtrays. Made from a hardwearing plastic, this ashtray will survive all manner of weather conditions and still clean up nicely. So not to worry if you accidentally leave a few of these ashtrays out in the rain or snow. With an open top approach these ashtrays tend to need emptying more often and can be susceptible to a strong gust blowing the contents out of the ashtray but represent a more economic option in terms of price. Also available in a smaller 4 inch version this ashtray is one of the most popular in the UK.

We have the Melamine’s younger brother, the more advanced offering, the five & three quarter inch black Melamine windproof ashtray. That’s right, this ashtray is windproof. Unlike its relations this ashtray comes with a curved lid, leaving a space in the middle to dispose of ash and cigarette butts. When we say windproof however, we do not mean that when the next hurricane strikes you can leave your ashtrays out; we mean that the wind will not blow the ash that is in the ashtray, back out and over anyone sitting nearby. A great feature. Contrary to popular belief smokers do not like to be covered in their own ash, or anyone else’s for that matter.

Behind Door Number 3

Third and finally it is time for the king to step up. This ashtray knows it is top of the tree, it will outlast its competitors and remain beautiful if well looked after. It is of course the 3 and a half inch stainless steel windproof ashtray. Boasting the capabilities of the black Melamine windproof ashtray, but not the structural and material weaknesses – this is our premium ashtray. Made from a strong stainless steel alloy, this ashtray is the heaviest as well as the strongest. In addition the stainless steel will ensure that your ashtrays do not rust, so long as they are properly maintained.
