We’re not here to judge. We’re here to help you elevate your Margarita game from “meh” to “magnificent.” Because a truly great Margarita is more than a drink – it’s an experience.
Mexican Elbow Lemon & Lime Squeezer
The Holy Trinity (and a few secrets):
- Tequila: Reach for 100% agave tequila. It’s smooth, flavorful, and will make a world of difference. Reposado adds a touch of oaky complexity, while Blanco offers a cleaner, brighter profile. The choice is yours.
- Lime Juice: Freshly squeezed. Bottled juice just won’t cut it if you want the very best final product – the fresh acidity is essential for balance.
- Cointreau (or a good quality orange liqueur): This is the key to adding depth and sweetness. Don’t skimp on it.
- The Secret Weapon: A pinch of salt. Seriously. It enhances the other flavours and adds a subtle savoury note.
The Method (it’s not rocket science, but it is science):
- Chill your glass. A cold glass keeps your Margarita colder for longer.
- Salt the rim. Use coarse sea salt for the best texture and flavour. Don’t overdo it.
- Combine ingredients. 60ml tequila, 30ml Cointreau, and 30ml fresh lime juice. Add a pinch of salt.
- Shake it up. Hard. You want those ingredients to mingle and create some frosty magic.
- Strain and serve. Into your chilled, salted glass (Garnish to preference – our choice is a simple lime wedge for a classic finish).
Variations: Add a splash of agave nectar for extra sweetness, a few slices of jalapeño for a spicy kick, or muddle some fresh fruit for a seasonal twist. But remember, the core principles remain the same.
