Bar snack menus have the potential to be as satisfying and substantial as a full food menu. A three-course menu may not be the right thing for your venue. Fortunately, you can grow a loyal customer base on your food alone, without serving on China plates, increasing your costs, and spending more time on washing up!
Basic bar snack equipment such as bread baskets, French fry cones, appetiser cups, and taco holders have so much flexibility and potential. These utensils alone can enable you to develop a stunning and unique bar snack menu, which has all the pulling power of a full food menu.
Of course, the quality of the food matters. But these basic pieces of food service equipment give you the room to serve classic dishes and other things that you may feel like experimenting with!
Bread baskets aren’t just great for bread. With a bit of parchment or grease-proof paper on the bottom, you can use them to serve nachos, pitta and hummus, pizza bites, bruschetta, garlic breadsticks, and so much more. If you don’t feel like serving these on a serving platter, the breadbasket provides a simple and aesthetically pleasing alternative.
Appetiser cups can be used to hold anything from nuts, pork scratchings, or popcorn, to prawn cocktails, small salads, or noodle dishes. These cups are great if you’re wanting to trial new ideas or for serving a selection menu.
French fry cones are, of course, great for French and sweet potato fries… but why not use them for nuggets, calamari, or mozzarella sticks? And despite their fairly specific name, taco holders are also perfect for serving hot dogs, fajitas, burritos, sausage rolls, desserts, and so much more. And it should go without saying – serving platters are great for serving platters!
It’s always a good idea to have seasonal menus and specials as this can build excitement and give you the best produce to work with. Also, don’t forget to think about how your food might pair with your drinks, in fact, we wrote a blog about perfect pairings that you can view here.
